Difference between Civic and CRX sunroof assembly/wiring/switch?
I know the CRX sunroof/moonroof (whatever it is!) opens UP and backward.
The Civic retreats back under the roof....but as far as the actual wiring goes, are there any main differences?
The CRX has 5 wires coming from the back of the switch, whereas the Civic only has 4.
I assume the extra wire for the CRX is only to operate the 'up' function of the roof; the way it exits the cabin before retreating backwards over the roof.
Basically what I'm wondering is if it's possible to use a Civic roof assembly with the CRX wiring/switch. I'm thinking the answer is yes; using a CRX assembly on a Civic switch is a different story since it would be missing the 5 wire.
Thoughts? Experience?

Exactly.
I've got a mint CRX switch and just got the entire CRX harness.
All I need now is the sunroof assembly.
The problem with the CRX assembly is the way it contours to the CRX roof...since I have a 4 door my roof is pretty flat in that section, so the Civic Si roof would be the better choice.

Well my roof right now is already beat to crap.
I figure if I'm going to do all the work, I might as well upgrade.
I really don't think it'll be that hard if I can use the Civic assembly.

Glad to see the deal worked w/ the wire harness.
I tore my CRX switch apart to clean the contacts and as you thought the 5th wire is for the "up" part. push the button partially for up, completely to continue back. it's the pin on the plug that doesn't have another pin next to it if that makes any sense. I see no reason you couldn't use the CRX switch & harness with the Civic roof. At the roof on the rex there is 4 wires. the 2 heavy gauge wires go to the motor and 2 light gauge wires go to a switch that lets the relay know that the roof is in "up" position so it stops there. Connect the 2 smaller wires to each other and then connect the larger wires to the sunroof motor and everything should work fine.
In fact, I don't think you'll even need the relay that's on the CRX harness, that just triggers the "up" position. If you by-pass the relay plug you can do without the relay.

Great! That's exactly what I wanted to know.
Like you said, I noticed that on the CRX switch it's a 2 position switch on the lower portion. A 'stepped' switch I believe is the correct terminology.
So as far as you know the Civic doesn't use a relay at all? Only the CRX as the Civic doesn't have an 'up' position?
