Hasport mounts with a b18c1 in an EF. What hood will clear the engine?
What hood are you b18c1 guys using on your EF's?? I am about done with my swap and I dont want to run into any problems with my hood/valve cover clearance.
What did you guys do to make it work??
Just for reference, I have an 89 hatch with the Hasport billet mounts.

i have heard thatyou can always put a few washers in the hood hinges to give you a little more clearance.
limpy - I have been told the same thing. Cut out the underside of the hood and prop it up with the washers to give it proper clearance.
hondadict - The b18c blocks have a higher deck than the other b-series blocks and can cause headaches when trying to fit them in the engine bay of the civics.
I am not really interested in the SiR hood because I dont want to convert the whole front end to the JDM one, and I am not too keen on the ZC hood cause that bubble just doesnt do it for me, although I may just have to go with the ZC one in the end...

There are a few options here. You can get a sir front end conversion, sir style hood for usdm front ends, or just cut your stock one. Thats what I did, I cut 2 "ribs" out of the hood on the driver side, above the valve cover.

I might look into that SiR hood for the US front end. Any tips on where to look for one of those??
I am going to try cutting my hood up first to see if that does the trick, but if it doesnt then I will be in the market for a new hood.

From my experience with the HAsport billet mounts, the will not clear the USDM hood. Not even after you cut out the hood supports. I switched to a JDM front end after a month or so.
ViS makes a SiR "style" carbon fiber hood for the USDM front end.
I have a ViS SiR hood for my JDM front end and the quality couldnt be any better. Im very satisfied.
