am i replacing the whole metal line? something tells me i am. just goes to show that you really should use a flarenut when working on that p.o.s, box wrenches will not do.
can i replace the bolt part and leave the line in place?

Should be able to, use a vice grips to get it off and out, just be sure not to screw up the connector.
Flare flare flare.... flare wrench (for next time)-- on your fuel filter too!
cut the hard line and put on a new connector, flare the end and connect the connector....
amateurs...
Actually I did this once long ago, but was able to save it before rounding it off.
