Wanting more out of my built B16!!!
OK I have a built b16 and want to get more out of it. It is burning a little oil in #3 so I got to rebuid it and I figure now is the time for any changes. Here is what I have now, if you think I need something changed (OTHER THAN THE BLOCK)I want to keep the b16 block, let me know.
84mm GE sleeved b16 block
JE 12.5:1 Pistons
Eagle Rods
New Bearings and all
Alaniz Competition Headwork
Alaniz Springs/Tit. Retainers
Jun3 cams/gears
RC 440 Injectors/ AEM Fuel Rail/FPR
Skunk2 IM
Edlebrock 65mm T/B
99-00 Si AEM Itake
Header-Tech Header w/ 3" collector
Greddy Trust 2.5" exhaust / staight pipe
Y21 LSD 4.4 tranny
Clutchnet 6 Puck Clutch
Clutchmasters 8LB flywheel
Hondata S200
When I got the car tuned the guy told me that it was bottle necking somewhere, so maybe you guys can help me out a little.
TIA

Looks like a damn good setup to me... P&P The head while its off, and have valve seals checked since you're burning oil. Oh, get some ARP head/rod studs.
Since you're doing a rebuild, I would use Honda rings/bearings. What crank are you using, Stock B16 crank?

It already has Alaniz headwork and Arp head bolts and the eagle rods come with arps in them. I dont know about the using of Honda rings with the JE pistons.
I am using the stock crank which has been micro polished and champhered.

How fast are you spinning that motor? I had almost the same exact setup and my rod bolts broke at 9800 rpm. You might want to upgrade those rods/and or bolts. mine only last 3,000 miles

Redline is set at 8800. The Jun's did not make any more power past that. I am just wondering if i need to upgrade the cams or something else, IDK. Just wanting more w/ what I already have I guess.
the skunk2 IM is bottle necking the engine. get rid of that scrap aluminum, and buy a short runner IM because youre engine is designed for high rpm breathing, and having runners longer than 3" is going to detract from the overall engine performance.
get the cylinders plateau honed, or if you want to take a step up from that, mirrored.
have the valve trained balanced...those rocker arms dont weight the same as the next...this will increase engine performance.
get a bigger throttle body as well. i think there is a 68mm floating around, or maybe the 70mm. nothing like a near-3" straw for the engine to suck through.

What kind of i/m do you recommend, and do i need to up the size of the t/b too and what about the actual intake should I get a new one like comptech/ARC or J's racing?
