I am just too tall!!
I know this has been talked about before, but I am struggling to find a comfortable driving position in my integra. I am about 6 feet tall and I like to sit upright and close to the steering wheel for the best feel, etc. But when I am like this my head is literally only 1inch from the roof. I can feel my hair hitting the ceiling. I have tried moving back, but then I am too far from the pedals. I have a 95 GSR so I have a sunroof which also limits the headroom. Forget wearing a helmet! I don't know how you do it! I tried an autocross and didin't really enjoy myself because I couldn't get comfortable. I ave been thinking about getting a different seat, but being in college and just moving out I have no green! What does everyone do? Any insight is appreciated!

Join the club. I'm 5'9", and can't get low enough in my Civic to keep from bumping my helmet on the roof all the time. The real kicker is that if I want to stay in STS in autox, any replacement seet has to be reclining, and, of course, those are the most expensive. Hope I get money for Christmas.
I personally ditched the idea of a GS-R for the same reason. I'm 6'3". No way I can fit in one WITHOUT a helmet, much less with one. 3 cars come to mind that I DO fit in with a helmet nicely: Type R (no sunroof), Sentra SE-R, and Dodge Neon. Neon is a shitbox (sorry any Neon owners out there). Love the Type R, but didn't want to crumble a $26,000 car into a $26,000 coffee table. So I bought an older SE-R. I even sat in one with a sunroof and I fit no problem with a helmet.
If you are in the possition to spend a bit of time and money on this problem then their is an easy fix.Take your car to a reliable body or race shop and have them remove or modify the floor risers that the seat rails mount to.Even using the stock seats should give you plenty of clearance.Of course some remounting fabrication of the original seats will be needed.
what are all u short guys complaining about?? (jk) i'm 6'8" and i have a 91 civic hatch. wanna talk about tight. but i have long legs so thats my main problem. but still, i just fit with my helmet. i got a dx cause with the sunroof in the si, i'd never fit. i also drove a gsr and there was no way i could fit in that with my helmet on and the leg foom was a bit tight. i went to check out an s2000......bad idea. i got stuck and the sales lady had to open the door so that i could get out(latch was behind my knee which was wedged between the door and the wheel).

Damn yoshi, You are low in that car!!! Can you see over the steering wheel? Just kidding. What seat do you have or are you just short?
I don't know how tall Yoshi is, but here is a pic of him and I at Willow Springs. I am 6'4".
After I finish developing the splitter and undertray, I might begin work on a set of removable legs... so I don't feel like Chewbacca in the R.

so there's no aftermarket rail that's low-profile that can be made to fit the stock seat? uh, those aftermarket rails are low-pro, right? i thought i saw some low-pro rails in japan, but i could be mistaken...

you can also gain a few inches by going to a local upholstery shop and have them remove some of the padding in your stock seat bottom. While you may lose a little comfort (right, like the stock seat is comfortable anyway), it may give you enough head room to get comfortable.
For what it's worth, I'm only 5"7 and my head hits the top with my helmet on...

You may also want to consider finding a del-sol seat, these basically bolt right in. Oh, and they sit a few inches lower (sat in my friends civic, i have and integra and am 6'1") and you will have room to spare. oh, and my 1996 gsr also has the sunroof so i feel your pain. This would be easy and fairly inexpensive. The del sol seats almost feel more supportive as well, and they do recline. You might even just swap the seat in when you go to the track, it would be that easy.

How much are Del Sol seats? Do they come in black and are there aftermarket rails that would lower my stock seat? How much could I sell my GSR seat for in excellent condition? Thanks guys!
Has anyone seen the new Tenzo R reclinable seats? I have seen them for like 225 bucks. Yes, I know Tenzo R, but they don't look that bad and they are very solid. They don't look cheap. Any opinions on them?
I am 6'2". When I race (stock seats) I have the seat about halfway between full-forward and full-back, reclined one-click back from full straight. I keep the sunroof closed and I have no problems whatsoever. I think my harness really pulls me down in the seat; without it my head hits the roof.
Del sol seats go from anywhere around $300-$350 for a pair. Most of the tall people with Si's seem to love them as they sit lower than a regular seat does. hth.

I have found a way to get you and extra inch and a half with the stock GSR seats. It really isn't that hard but I don't want to type it all out. If you send me an email with a phone number I will call you and walk you through it. Then you can document it and take pictures of the process. Then it will be you that is the beig hero to all of the tall people out there. Email me at matthewk@kunikos.com
To give you an idea I am 6'3" with a very long torso (32" inseam) and I can now sit clost to straight up in my GSR. Looking at the seat with leather, you wouldn't know that I did anything to it.
