sup, just wanted to know who makes the seats in my90 si hb, I thought they were recaro but someone told me different. They are really nice for some stock seats. I plan on keeping them and gettin racing harness for them insted of buy those seats from ebay.

 

I keep hearing they're made by Recaro but I really doubt it. Stock Si seats are nice, but they are cheaply made. They have a tube frame with cheap foam and the cloth isn't that durable. I know the seats are old but damn, I would think Recaro's would be better quality. Recaro tended to stick to certain designs back in the 80's. Here are some pics of Recaro made BMW sport seats from my M3....

 

recaro is a seat manufacturing company. so what? they make high end products, they also make mass production stuff. it doesnt matter that Si seats are "made by recaro" or whatever.

 

Wouldn't be surprised if they were made in China.

..and the seatbelts are sometimes made by TAKATA™..not as cool as jdm bling green harness but..i forgot my point..oh well

 

actually, honda made the seats, and recaro designed them for honda.

They are great quality seats, yeah they tear and rip, but if you take care of them you can get about 10 years out of them, what race seat gets 10 years?

mine lasted 13 years before the tore.

My seats were still perfect, it was a 88...that comes too

mine wear 16 years old and still in perfect condition, and was driven through winters and summer since I bought it off of original owner, so you cant say those arent durable

LOL yeah I get your point. but I got 2 seats for ya FOR FREE 1 Authentic SRD recaro seat, and 1 knockoff which one would you pick. Branding is such a terrible thing, I love recaro seats but I refuse to pay that much for them just because of HYPE so they raise the price. Just like anything else in the auto market theres great quality parts out there with less well known name, but everyone would be like "hey i didnt see that on a r34 drift car so its trash" Like DC sports makes good headers, but crack just like any other, Bisimoto headers are kickass and are better than DC sports, but noto many people know about them. Uh sorry Im bored so I just type too much lol
