I just recently picked up a crx with an h22 already swapped in. Im throwing 2 codes, code 9 and code 14. i need to know where to start to fix these problems. The car doesnt seem as fast as it should be. I know the codes are IAC and CYP.
Clean out the IAC and see if the code goes away.
Check your timing. If it's ok then check the wiring for the distributor. Maybe flip the wires for the CYP sensor around - sometimes people wire them backwards. Try a new distributor if everything checks out ok.

No idea which wires.
Can you get hold of a wiring diagram for your ECU?
Trace out the wiring for the IAC and make sure it's good.
Trace the distributor too.

the car is a 90 crx it has been converted to obd1. I fixed the cyp code by just wiring it straight to the ecu. i still have the iacv code trying to figure that one out still. at the iacv connector, both wires have constant voltage when the ignition is on. I supplied voltage to one pin on the iacv and grounded the other and i could hear it "click" so i guess the iacv itself is fine and my problem is the wiring. ill wire that to the ecu if i have to. Also today while driving, I noticed Vtec wasn't working so i checked the codes and it was a code 3 (MAP). I reset the ECU and Vtec worked fine for about 25 min. then code 3 again and no Vtec. WTF?
are you running ur map through an obd1 throttle body or are you running it through the obd0 vaccuum setup? I haven't heard of vtec ever not working because the map sensor is malfunctioning. Anyone know of anything like this?
