dripping, pinging noise after i turn off the car what is it?
ok well after i park and turn off the car, i hear this pinging or dripping noise, anyone know what it is? i have a d16y5 and just got custom piping done to my car. kind of like DINK. it's one pinging noise then it happens every 10 secs? dink.....dink......dink
downpipe, catalyic converter reacting to heat disapation, as it cools. ie metal contrats when getitng cooler, so its the metal settling back into form.

. same happened with mine after i got piping done. itll stop after a while

I always thought it was oil dripping back into the higher part of the oil pan. Drips from the crankcase and lands on the oil pan, thus making a 'dink' sound.. haha. Never actually thought about the metal contracting.

yeah this dink sound is louder then the oil pan one

if you have a windage tray, that wouldn't happen anyways.....
