Default 99 Accord CD player problem

OKay, I have a 99 Accord coupe with an oem cd player. Just the cd player/radio, NO TAPE. Well, my cd player does not play a lot of CD-R discs very well. Most of the CD-R discs will play after about two minutes of the CD player attempting to read them and as soon as I switch songs, it takes forever to play. I have older CD-R discs that play just like "real" music CDs but I can't find those CD-Rs anymore. So, my question is does anyone else have this same problem? If so, what CD-Rs can I use that will play like "real" CDs?

Not really sure, but I recommend just saying "screw it", and pick up a new Alpine for ~ $200 (or $230 for one that plays MP3s).

Or you can pick up an Alpine CDA 7839 off of ebay for ~ $80 or $90 after shipping, it plays CD-Rs just fine (I've used this model since early 2000 in my commuter car, it's a 1999 model). If you do buy this off of ebay, make sure you get the metal mounting sleeve as well as the harness from the radio.

In my '99 Accord Sedan I still have the stock tape player, though it is hooked up to a trunk mounted Alpine CD changer that I installed in late '98, it also plays CD-Rs just fine. If you want to keep the stock radio because you are worried about theft and think that people would be less likely to steal a stock radio (which is true), then you might consider a trunk mounted player, though this will cost you ~ $250 for the changer, and $50 or so for connectors (cost me right at $500 in December '98, prices have dropped of course).
