Default Help w/ code 17: VSS

I have been trying to figure this out for a while to no avail.

this is a 89 civic dx w/ a b17, running on obd0 pr3 ecu

tried swapping clusters, tried wiggling the sensor in the tranny, checked the ecu pin, everything looks right, but when I drive the car for a couple minutes, the lights comes back on.

What should I try next?

have you tried unhooking your battery for a few minutes to re-set your ecu?

what light are you talking about?? Im guessing its not electronic VSS so take your cluster out and when driving look at where the cable hooks into the back of your speedometer and see if that black pin is constatly spinning when the vehicle is in motion. If it is not turning then u know the problem is not the cluster it might be a bad cable...

I had the same problem after doing the motor swapp, it turns out that I had to take out my gauge cluster and wiggle the Vss from the back of the cluster a couple of times, now it works fine. Hope that helped

yeah that thing rotates when Im driving. So that rules out the actual gear/cable assembly.

Switched the cluster and still throws code, so that rules out the cluster.

I tested the wire from back of the cluster (yellow/red) to the computer (pin B16) and it has continuity.

Im stumped

WhiteCRXSi, did you wiggle it while attached to the cluster?
