Question about 1996-2000 civic DX/CX. What's the body code on it I.e. Eg9, ek6, or ....yea. And their the d16 engine right? Sorry its a question my friend asked me and that's how he said it so...sorry...haha..! Thanx for the help.

 

The 96-00 hatch is EJ6.

 

EJ6 is the 96-00 4 door Sedan. The Hatch is called a EK. The Coupe is called a EM1.

THe Engine is a D16Y7. The EX model is a D16Y8, FYI. THe 99-00 Si has a B16A.

 

EJ6=96-up civic 2/3/4 door w/ d16y7
EJ7=96-up civic 2 door w/ d16y5
EJ8=96-up civic 2/4 door w/ d16y8
EM1= civic si

8th digit in vin tells whether its dx or cx (2 for cx(3door only) DX and hx, 4 for dx w/ ac hx w/ ac or ex, 5 for dx w/ ac and abs also ex w/ abs

no such thing as an EK as a US model

its also funny to look at 5th gen civic body codes

c'mon now guys, you should know that no usdm civics had an EK chassis code! where's the gurus at? everyone calls a 92-95 civic an EG, and everyone calls a 96-00 civic an EK. the only EG in the US was an EG8, and its a 4 dr LX/DX with a D15B7. there were no EKs in the US. HT disappoints me sometimes.

and don't forget the EG1 and EG2 for del sols.

You obviously know nothing.

An EM1 is a 99-00 Si Coupe. The EK is the JDM Hatch and an EJ6 is a DX coupe, hatchback and 4 Door.

 

What's the difference between an EG1 and EG2 for the sols?

So what's the chassis code for a 93 si hatch??

EG1= S model

EG2= SI and VTEC model

eh2 = 92-95 hatch w/ d15b7 d15b8 d15z1 motor
eh3 = 92-95 hatch w/ d16z6 motor

ej1= 92-95 coupe w/ d16z6
ej2 = 92-95 coupe w/ d15b7

no such thing as a 92-95 eg hatch released in the US

The easiest way to tell the chassis code is to look at the VIN. The 4th-6th digit in the VIN is the chassis code. The easiest way to know the engine is obviously look at the stamp to the left of the exhaust manifold.
