B20/Vtec Timming problem??
Ok i got a B20/Vtec with 12:1 compression ratio. Im trying to do the timming on the engine. I cannot put the timming of the stock GSR??? The marks (middle one) of the crank pulley is not going to the mark of the belts cover. My timming belt is really not tight and i cannot tight it more. I have alot of free play when turning the engine. The distributor is at the firts cylinder , the two marks of the cam gear are align??? When i putting the gaz it's seems like backfire is comming from the intake(not sure because i got a big leak in the exhaust) at 1500rpm didint go over this rev since im earing that sound. The engine seem like it misfire.
Ok my timming belt is from the GSR since my water pump is a GSR. Well everything from my GSR block went to my B20B, the crankshaft pulley of the timming belt , the other pulley to is from the GSR(alternator&power steering pump)
Well everything is on.
Anyone can help me please
Thanx

take the crank pulley off and the upper and lower timing belt covers. re tension your belt and make sure its dead nutz on and tight enough so that theres an inch or so of deflection with moderate hand force on the exhaust side of the belt. too tight and it will sound like you have a blower. line the cam gear marks up together and the crank mark up on the oil pump.
anyway to get the belt to tension the best way is to put a wrench on the exhaust cam hold it in place. loosen the tensioner bolt and pull up on the tensioner to release it with a screwdriver or allen wrench. then turn the crank counter clock wise till you get the desired tension. get it dead on the first time, you dont want to have to do it again.

if you cant understand me TBone and b19coupe do a pretty good job in this post

oh yeah and make sure you dont get slack between the cam gears either
