need help fast!
Alright, here's the problem: My distributor went on Saturday night, and apparently I have ZC, but now I'm not sure. Its suppose to be a ZC DOHC, non-vtec, 1.6l, but the distributor I got doesn't fit >.< Should I try to get a 1.5 dizzy and try that, or what? Where can I find out if I actually have a ZC engine? Is there any serial numbers that I can look for? I'm at a loss here...
look on the front of the block, were the tranny bolts up against the block. there should be a 1 inch by 1 inch square were the type of engine you have is engraved.
2001535 is what was on the block... but this doesn't help me in my search to find out if the car shop fucked me or not when I bought the engine last year. I'm trying to figure out if I need a 1.5 distributor or a 1.6... I think I need the 1.5 now, since I ordered a 1.6 and it doesn't fit, but couldn't that be because it might have been made for a different honda engine?
on the top of the crx forum go to the post you car, go to the second page, the second car is a red hatch with a carbon fiber hood, look just two pics below the picture of his seats. that is the engravement im talking about.
Alright, it says:
ZC
2001535
But .... from what someone is trying to tell me is that its a 1.5 head on a 1.6 bottom end... does this make sense? All I need to know is what distributor I need...

First you need to figure out what engine you have.
88~91 1.6 and 1.5 liter engines in the US can accept either distributor. They both fit.
People that do the DPFI to MPFI convesrion just swap distributors and they don't need to swap entire cylinder heads.

I bought a 1.6, but the mounting brackets wouldn't line up... so my friend and his father say that I have a 1.5. ZC is JDM.

Alright, I typed in the letters on the distributor: tc-05a, and came up with that its a 1.5 D15B6 engine model for a Honda 1988-1991 HF distributor..... how can that be if I have a ZC engine? I'm confused now....
yes, it has DOHC... non-vtec... but... can it have an HF head on it? Thats whats confusing me... and this is why I'm starting to wonder if the place I bought my engine from fucked me over now....

thats what im getting at. the Hf is Sohc so if you KNOW that it has dual then you have a ZC head. if you don't have Dohc then it probably an Hf head. so were you told it has Dohc or do you know it does?
I know it does... but... why is it using an HF Dizzy? Is that normal? Also, I thought the ZC was a 1.6, not a 1.5..... this is really confusing
You need a distributor from an 88~89 Integra if you have a DOHC ZC motor.
The HF head looks like any other SOHC head. The valve cover is a dead give-away

Alright, but that still doesn't answer why I have an HF distributor in my ZC.... yes, its a DOHC. I'll go take pictures if need be.
I got it from Swift Motorsports in Groton Connecticut, and yes, it came with the dizzy

Well, since its too late (8 PM) to call the place where I got my dizzy, tomorrow I'm calling up the place where I bought the engine to find out exactly what I have, then calling up some local junk yards to see if they have any matching dizzys, as well as cost, contacting the place where I got the dizzy for a refund, then going from there. I was hoping to get it up and running so I didn't need a ride into work in the morning, however, this teaches me to look into what I need to get before purchasing it blindly and going by what 1 person says. I was told it was a 1.6 engine, didn't know that apparently the head can be from a 1.5 engine and put on a 1.6 bottom end, resulting in a mismatched part (so this does mean that a 1.6 dizzy will not mount up correctly at all on a 1.5 head). Thanks for everyones help though, mucho appreciated
