92 LX Wagon Need Help...
92 LX Wagon
I am a n00b here so please bare with me, I believe (because I have been reading around here) that I have a f22, slap me if I am incorrect, it is a 2.2 SOHC 120k great condition runs great has a slight problem leaks oil, but a mechanic told me its not engine threatening if I keep oil in it till I get enough money to fix it... but I was thinking if I save the money I was going to put into the engine now, picked up a less mileage f22a don’t know if its possible (please let me know were I could get one),purchase an upgrade tranny or buy complete set with the better tranny, maybe put a f22b head on it, cold air intake, headers, hi-flow cat, and performance muffler, build this motor DIY while I drive the leaky one, once its all put together slap it in...
I need to know...
1) What tranny is best with f22...
2) Is the f22b head on an f22a possible...
3) Will this setup be suitable for turbo in the future... ($$$ isn’t my strong point so I have to wait for the turbo) speaking in terms of an f22b head on the f22a bottom.
4)estimated cost of project...
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Some will say leave the F series tranny or others will say go with a h23 tranny. I guess it depends on what kind of application you're looking for. FI (longer gears would be ideal f22) NA (shorter gears to allow to stay in power band: h23 or even h22 tranny)

I would start out by not only researching your possible performance needs (FI, build up etc) but start with a compression check on your current engine (you have low miles and you might be ok and not need a new engine). Start there and go on. Your oil leak sounds like it could be just the oil pan gasket...very common.
I have seen people boost anywhere from 5-10psi on a STOCK engine and produce 230whp and 260ish wtq. On the cb7 (90-93 accord) the engines love boost and can take it as a daily driver.
Compression check is key
And moneywise I would guess 1-3K for parts and then another 1-1.5K for tuning/dyno time. It depends on the setup you want.

. The biggest thing I can say is search, a lot of topics have been covered but feel free to post your questions/concerns etc. Welcome to h-t
Also a supplemental site I refer to a lot is http://www.cb7tuner.com , lot of knowledge from both h-t and cb7

I failed to state I also get a small amount of oil on top of my engine around one of the cover bolts...
I can just pick a compression tester up from auto store and do it right?
About the leak I would just get a new gasket for my oil pan drain oil take off pan replace with new gasket new oil...?
If it is oil pan it would leak if the car is off too right?
And the tranny was just rebuilt not to long ago but if i am going for turbo would I want to upgrade clutch (failed to mention it’s and AUTO =/ )??

I have seen a couple people with AT go turbo...remember you're not going buck wild and doing 10psi (are you?
). If you're doing a ~5psi setup AT should be fine, my recommendation would be to get a tranny cooler (from http://www.jegs.com) or something like that.
OR
You can do a 5spd conversion...let me know if you want the link for that
.

Iwas wondering About a MT conversion but was worried about the complications of adding the extra pedal ect...
reverse lights, MT neutral toggle probably easier to just grab a good swap set f22 w/ MT and switch every thing out because there’s all sort of stuff that the AT bay dose not have, I think.
I want a daily driver further I want to be quick but have that sleeper Honda wagon was wondering if I put flow masters on my Honda would it keep that weed whacker noise away from me lol... I hate that *expletive
deleted* and my car doesn’t do it now so I don’t want that to change.
Was looking at another thread saying they had an f22 daily driver boosted at 9psi...
I don’t know if that’s possible or not...
I was thinking about what you had said like just turbo this one if it can take it and it’s a plan, now in the mean time if I bought the f22 MT ( $$$ estimate? ) And pieced together a monster f22a Frankenstein f22b head sent out to get worked, headers, cam, pulleys, maybe pistons (only is it’s really needed), clutch, cold air maybe chip? Or will the turbo tuning be similar to that?
Then take the turbo setup that currently fits the f22 in the car in theory the turbo could just be taken off the car and the turbo could just be plopped in and MT Frank engine gets slammed in then tune and dyno.. Or is there a difference between the MT and AT turbo setup?
