K20Z1 is the new engine in the 2005 RSX Type S

The person who took this picture said that in the base RSX the engine code was still K20A3, so this has to truely be the new engine code.
Here is the thread. http://forums.clubrsx.com/show...nt=73
The Z1 obviously the new head on the K20 block. Now the code on the actual cylinder head will probably be a PRB or whatever code.
Just like the K20A/A2/A3, the Z1 just tells of the different head on the new block.

Yeah i cannot wait till someone rips it apart to see exactly what is changed.
The Type-S benefits from a new chamshaft, plus intake nad exhaust improvements that help increase power output to 210 horses for 2005"
That was taken right out of the 2005 Brochure i have right in front of me. With that, i think its safe to say that the K20A ITR intake cam is being used along with the K20A Intake Manifold and maybe the 4-2-1 header. Until we get under the car/in the engine bay/rip the head open, we will not know exactly what exact cam/intake/exhaust changes they have made.

Yeah i have seen that already. I think that they are either wrong about using BOTH cams or Acura is definately under rating their car this year. I hope they are under rating their car. It would make sense to do so, because increasing hp increases insurance rates and such, and Honda/Acura do not want to hinder their sales because of stupid insurance companies.
What do you guys think?

I'm reading the same thing in the brochure right now. It's a cam and intake/exhaust changes.
If it's the R manifold too, really 1 new cam will basically make that motor into the ITR motor.

This is the most i've seen a company change a car within a generation. When Acura updated the integra in '98, the only thing they changed were the front and rear bumpers, standard leather, wheels, and steering wheel (thats all i can think of off the top of my head).
The 2005 RSX-S is what the 2002 RSX-S should have been...i'd be pretty mad if i just purchased an '04.

Eh I'm gonna buy an '04 I think. It's the same car minus one cam (10hp) and minus 80lbs. I do like how the '05s look though.

True, I just bought an `04 2 months ago but I am happier with the `04.
<U>2005</U>
Pro's: Increase in HP by 10 hp; Increase in redline by 200 rpm; 17" Wheels
Cons: Ugly front headlights; Rear lights are rice
Screw the 10 hp, get HONDATA

Do not forget the 4.76 FD brought over from the ITR. That will help it alot and probably negate the added weight.
