EL Digital gauges on 4th gen
Walking in a salvage yard today... Scoping some Ludes. Spotted a perfect set of digital gauges with VTEC red line! Got it for $50!! Will this be plug n play on my 92 S? Wondering since they will have to light in the day if I am gonna have to run some wires.
You need the dah wiring harness too to make the install plug and play. If you don't have that, expect to sit down and spend a lot of time wiring it.
The complete harness behind the instrument panel? Ill have to go back for it...
How far back from the gauges do I need to get?
Thanks for the help!

You will need whole dashboard harness it means you cannot cut it but have to unplug. There is somewhere in the dashboard a big connector that connects the main wiring to dash wiring.
You will need the dimming adjuster too, as it is different from non-EL one.

thanks - is the dimming adjustor a little silver box mounted to the left of the speedo? Kinda behind the drivers tweeter?

Thanks - I will be going back to the yard tonight to get everything else I need. Is this all I need?
- wiring harness
- dimmer adjustor
Do I need the inverter?
I want to get everything I need this time.
Is there a write-up anywhere for this install?
If not, maybe I should do one...
Thanks so much for the info!

Yup, the complete harness that plugs into the fuse box on the driver's side all the way to the passenger side where it plugs into a harness near the pass. side tweeter.
It didn't take me too long to pull it out. The driver's side section where it plugs into the fuse box is the most difficult. The rest is pretty easy.

yes you need the inverter box it will not work at all without that....and once you get the entire harness it should work, thers a write up on another site....later

K - got the harness from where it plugs in on the drivers side all the way to where it plugs in on the pass. side. Also got the silver box that some wires off the harness plugged into on the drivers side, which is the inverter I suppose (am I right?) And got the little black box that was mounted in a white plastic housing on the passenger side, which is the dimmer adjustor I guess (am I right?) I also picked up some the trim pieces on the roof and the sunroof switch cluster with all 3 switches. My total today was $30. Not bad!
Someone please verify before I get started in the install.
Will both ends of the harness plug in with no mods? I started with a 92 S
After installing the inverter and dimmer adjustor am I DIGITIZED?
THANKS!

It sounds like you have every thing you need to make it just plug in. When you finish there will be one plug on the far passenger side that will not plug into any thing. but you will need to ground one of the wires on it so that your turn signals work correctly.
It took me a long time to figure that one out. i made a post a long time ago to say which wire that needs to be to grounded, so if you search for el gauges or under my name you should be able to find it.

That's all you should need for the install. I did he EL gauge cluster conversion into
my 93 Si (using the 93 stock harness) and it works with my stock dimming
adjuster. The only problem i'm having is that i can't seem to dim the EL gauges w/
the dimmer control like i can with the fuel/temp gauges. The EL gauges dim when i
turn on my headlights but i can't control how dim they get (don't respond to the
dimmer control). I THINK that's why they say that the EL gauge cluster
dimmer adjuster is different then the regular one. Can someone confirm this; that
my EL gauges don't respond to the dimmer control because i'm using the non-EL
gauge dimmer adjuster?
