I really can't say, because there's never been a comparison done about those two cars.

tell your friend if he has an accident the insurance very likely will NOT pay unless it's in his name, too.

The S is for those who like high revving motors and roadsters. Its con is the torque, but it's not bad; the 4.1FD really ups the effective wheel torque.

The Z is for those who like torque. It's biggest cons are the weight and the cheap interior materials.

Your friend knows what type he is. Speedwise, they are VERY VERY close. Handling, the S. The S is also pretty exclusive; everyone and their cousin has a Z by now. Resale, the S will probably win, too.

Here's my opinion on it...

If he wants something that's a little more "luxurious" or appeals to a higher class person, then opt for the 350z or possible Chrysler Crossfire.

If he's looking for more head turning, performance oriented, I'd say S2k.

That's just MY thoughts.

just bought the 2004 Carina red s2000 this weekend. i was going to buy the 350z but i thought about the resale value and the allure of a more "pure" sports car. i just felt the s2k to be more of a pure sports car. plus my GF has the G35 coupe.
she can kill my car on the freeway- BAR NONE-- i drove her car . handles nice too. but i felt my car to be more fun on the twisties....

just my 2 cents...............

Your probably going to get a biased opinion on a honda website. I love my S, when i origionally purchased it i too was comparing it with the Z. Just have him drive the 2 cars, they have completely different feelings. From that he'll know which one he wants to get
