Default have a question about transmissoins?

I have a s1 ls trans thats cable that has no 4th gear and most syncs are gone, and a ys1 from a gsr cable trans that has fine gears but its cracked near the axles seal so it leaks. I wanted to know whats the difference in the trans besides the gearing, is the cases different and is it even worth trying to get shorter gearing in the ls cause its hard to find a good running b16a trans (Y1)? Dont know thats why i'm asking.

um i dont know but the best best bet would be to just deal with it and save up for a long time, get the manual to hydro conversion and get a newer b16 tranny or a type r one

s1 is not an ls tranny... if its an ls trans use the case on the ys1. if its really an s1 then try to find synchros and rebuild it... s1=typeR gearing>ys1 if your n/a and don't mind high rpm at freeway speed.. otherwise use the unknown tranny with the ys1 internals.
