Need help deciding on new suspension!
I have a 99 gsr, and my front shocks seems to be dead.
With the dead shocks, my tires are getting shredded. Because of this, I've decided to buy new everything, shocks/coilover/springs.
I have around 600$ but dont know what to buy!
I looked at tokico hp/illumnia shocks and skunk2 coilovers but not sure if they are any good. If you have any suggestion of what to buy and what is good please help me =p
Thanks Jee

For shocks, I'd recommend AGXs, Illuminas, or Koni Yellows (if you can afford them). My current setup on my 96 GS-R is AGXs with Comptech Sport Springs. I paid less than $500 shipped and am extremely happy with the results.

I'd recommend ground control coilovers with tokiko illumina shocks, but that's just me and I'm a little biased
Are Ominpower full coilover suspension better then tokico illumnia+ground control coilovers? If so, where can i get them? And how much they run for?
Thanks
Jee
Any other suspension recommendations?

i personally hav never tried them but i hav heard GREAT reviews about the koni yellows... u can probably find some used 1s that r in good condition for 600 (mayb dont really know)

i went w/ tockico blue and skunk2's. i'm happy. i'd rather have whites or koni yellows.... but didn't have the money, dont have the money now. i like stiff spring rates, and if you like a hard ride, then you'd like skunks. gc's have a softer ride to them. omni powers are basically skunks (dude who makes them used to work at skunk). i dont like just a lowering spring because i like my car dumped and springs dont get it that low... i like adjustability, but i've never adjusted mine except for when i put it on a trailor.
I got my Omnipower full coilover set up and f & r camber kit shipped to me for $799.99. Best deal for the quality.
Ominpowerusa.com
They still might have the free shipping deal going on too.

which is better omni or koni yellow +ground control coilovers?
I hear a lot of mixed reviews about omni and how they are bumpy?
Im not going to race or anything, just need something that will provide a smooth(not bumpy) ride.
Help me out here, suggestions?
thanks

It's always a better idea to buy a full coilover system, because the spring are matched to a specific strut.
Mix and match systems are fine if you do your homework, but it's still not as good as a one piece system.

BAH! all these setups are beginner level....if you want the best setup possible, get a JIC magic coilover strut setup....
Sure, they cost abour $1700. but the built in 3-axis adjustment capability, plus the fact that they're built to WRC rally standards makes it worth the investment.

keep in mind not everyones out to become a racecar driver. unless the car was purely for track there is no purpose in buying those unless you need an ego boost. anyways thats way above his budget.

Eventhough I don't own the OMNI coils, I've heard nothing buy EXCELLENT hearsay about it. If you're not on a budget, get some RAs or JICs FLTA2.

Those Tokico HP's will be done for shortly w/ stiff spring rates.

Bumpy depends on spring rate. I'm running Konis with Koni-specific GC sleeves and 380/450 spring rates, which is stiff, but I like it. With GC you can choose whatever spring rate you want.
Keep in mind there is always a trade-off when lowering a car. The lower you go, the stiffer the spring has to be in order to keep the suspension from bottoming out, which translates into a bumpier ride over rough roads. Additionally, the stiffer the spring, the stronger (and more expensive) the damper has to be to control the motion of the spring.
Oh yeah, with my setup, I have externally adjustable rebound damping as well as adjustable ride height. Omnipower coilovers do not provide for any damping adjustment.

sorry if I was miss understood. I was just messing with him for fun. On a serious note, the beginning Tein systems aren't priced too bad. GC coilovers with AGX's make a good system, but are pretty severe. Eibachs and konis worked out really well on my friends Civic coupe. Tokico blues are decent for the price....there's definately options out there man, just do your research and match it to the kind of ride you want.

Well that's because their entry-level full coilovers are well, entry-level. They suck.
