Default Starting problems

i have a 91 accord and it starts fine but then when i wire the amp to the battery it does not start it just sputters and then when i take the amp off it works fine. Do you think it is the batery or the alternator?

the battery you dont need an alternator to start your car just to keep it running, take it to auto zone and have them test the battery its quick easy and free
