Center console warm?
I got a new tranny and I noticed that wen I got my car back the center console on the right side would get warm as would the shift boot. Maybe i just never noticed before but i don't think it did that before. The right side of the console is noticeably warmer then the left side of the console, is this normaly or something else.

Exactly, the gearbox is located in front of the passenger footwell. Unless of course, the car is an S2000?

Check the rubber boot that seals the shifter. If it came loose, which can happen very easily, all the heat will come in from there. It is normal for it to be a little warm, but if it feels unusually warm, then I'd check that boot. Also, the rubber boot that seals the parking cables.

Heat shield?
For the life of me, I don't know why people don't spellcheck their posts Before.
At any rate depending on the outside temps it can still be hot regardless of the heatshield being there or not.

You may be able to access this boot by removing the center console assembly.
It is a rubber boot that is stretched to fit so the possibility of it coming off isn't impossible.

No heat shield makes a huge difference.
It might be possible that they neglected to put it back on after the work on the tranny.

No heat shield made absolutely no difference on mine. Maybe I'm a minority but the center console got hot when it had all the shields in place and it gets just has hot now. Oh well.

you need to take your own advice
. Although I admit spell check won't catch that

Anton: While I agree with you normally I must admit.
For the life of me, I don't know why spellcheck would have flagged the word "head" as it is a valid word in the english language.
