Your factory 89 CRX si came with a 1.6 motor not a 1.5.
If you are using your stock ECU then you need to (not an option) use the stock distributor that came with your motor.

The VTEC (check your spelling on VTEC... it's not v-tec) motor you have sounds like it's a 1992~1995 D16Z6. If you are using your stock ECU then your distributor won't bolt correctly to this motor. You will either have to hack up the distributor to make it work or make some custom brackets to hold it in there. Only one bolt fists correctly.

If you use the ECU that comes with the 1992~1995 D16Z6 motor then you can also use the distributor for the D16Z6. You can not use your 1989 distributor in this case.

You'll have to modify your engne wiring harness, no need to switch the whole thing over.

Pretty much, all you need to modify is a distributor plug (whether on the distributor, or on the harness, doesnt matter as long as they mate up). And of course, to run a P28 ECU, you'd need t oget an OBD0-OBD1 adapter harness (or you can hardwire the new ECU plugs, but it just isn't right to me).
Some may tell you to change out the injector plugs, but you don't have to, if you keep your old SI injectors as well as the resistor box.

Distributor wires swap color by color - peach to peach, white/blu to white/blue and so on. Green/Blue wire on the newer distributor corresponds to the thicker of the two white wires on SI (the onethat is places kinda all by itself in the plug, you'll see).
