Bad rattling noise at startup
I have a 92 DA LS-S and I recently changed my headgasket, got everything back together and it started on 1st try, but there is this bad rattling noise when it starts...so I pulled the motor mount off and tightend my tensioner pulley and got the belt tight, but the noise is still there, but when I rev it up to about 4500, the noise goes away. I'd drive it, but I dont want all that noise and rubbernecks on the road trying to find out where all that noise is comin from....any suggestions on what to do??
My 90 sounds like that sometimes too. I wouldnt say it sounds bad, but it does make the car look worse. I talked to my mechanic about it and he said that was perfectly normal for these models. Something about the valves hitting the cams. If you did all that to it then it doesnt sound like anythings loose. Maybe you need a valve adjustment or something like that.
it performs just fine just like it used to before the head gasket problem...I'm goin out today to work on it though and play with it more, and I'll get one of my friends to adjust the valves for me.
