please help quick!- car shut down on highway- Distributor??
drivin home last night, my car totally just shut down while accelerating- will now crank , but wont start. Nothing sounds funny from the internals , and the timing belt is fine- Had no way to check the spark(on the side of the highway) . Can distributors just"go out" like this while driving??? My car is a 93 civic with a b16 swap in it .- Its a Gen 1 motor(obd 0) but looks to be wired for obd1(runs a US del sol ECU) so if it is the distributor(is there a way to check???) would i use an obd1 or obd0 dizzy????Is there a way to tell what generation of distributor is currently on there???? thankyou for ANY advice
it could possibly be
your fuel pump ( do you hear it prime when key is in " ON " position?)
ignitor ( take dizzy cap off and look for reddish dust )
main relay ( Do you hear it clicking when you turn the key?)
Grounds ( tranny, valve cover, thermostat housing )

yes i forgot to mention- fuel pump does turn on ( i can hear it ) when i first turn ignition to on position- i didnt hear any" clicking when i turned the key- ill have to bouble check that though, and the grounds, but i pretty sure the ground wires are fine (i've checked them over before. So if i do replace the distributor- the model number of the distributor should be located on a sticker on it-correct??-(I've been searching)- any other distinguishing marks to tell obd0 from obd1 distributors? And thanks for the quick replies!! you guys rock
just an update for the people who use the search option
- it was the i went ahead and repalced the whole distributor so i wouldn't have to mess with anything else down the road on it( i've heard that dizzies can be a honda's "weak link" ) anyways- ordered one from distributorkings- (good company) installed it, and she fired right up- i would definetly reccomend when replacing a distributor to time it afterwards- i got my new distributor close if not exactly where my old one had been- and timing turned out to be pretty retarded(really noticeable). Thanks again for the help!
