I have heard that painting your motor traps heat inside the block.

nope, but if you plan on using a dark color(black) i would suggest you not do it.

Why whould the color matter? Is black more dense that a lighter color? I have my block painted ford blue.

the color doesnt really matter but if you paint your block lets say black, blue, orange, etc it looks kinda shity

it does matter, to me at least, because i like to be able to if there are any oil leaks. i would NEVER paint my block a dark color, hell i would never paint my block any color.

Hmm...

A marine mechanic told me the exact opposite. They purposely paint the blocks black. I don't remember exactly why he said they do that, but he said it helps in controling the temp.

doubt the block cools much due to convection
the water does the majority of the cooling
