Question about how an electronic boost controller that uses solenoids works using a Duty cycle.

Default Question about how an electronic boost controller that uses solenoids works using a Duty cycle.

I'm trying to figure out the duty cycle of EBC that use solenoids.

Is this a cycle that turns the solenoid off/on many times a second to keep boost steady? Or does it turn on and off once a second to keep boost steady? Is this a ratio of on/off per second? I'm really guessing here...

is the signal sent to the solenoid a digital or a pwm signal?

It would have to be pwm, in order to hold boost even close to steady. Closing the WG for a second would totally overboost on most people's setups.

I agree, and the solenoid what have to be a fast solenoid otherwise it wouldnt open/ close fast enough.

its a pwm signal on most, much like an evap purge solenoid or an idle motor.
