I just removed my JUN3s and sold them. Had them in the car for 21K miles. They had NO WEAR on them whatsoever even with an upgraded valvetrain.

Cams dont wear unless they're installed improperly...then you MIGHT get a flat lobe, but with hondas its almost near impossible to have that happen. I wouldn't worry at all about the life expectancy of the cams.

regular oil changes/fresh oil can also help avoid wear

its not the cams you have to worry about its the titanium retainers, the JUN IIIs put out he most stress on the the valvetrain during vtec, then any cam out there besides the toda ds and JUN 4s. Also do yourself a favor and make sure your valve lash is in spec and as well upgrade the timing belt

There are a couple known instances where the JUN springs bind under their own cam. Although this is extremely rare, its the piece of mind that keeps everyone going...I'd opt for the TODA valvetrain, or Rocket...

Really? Man, even if it is rare you would think a cam manufacturer would produce the best possible valvetrain to go with it's cams. I've heard Toda springs have less of a chance of binding but I figured it was just opinion. Funny though that JUN had to release a type 2 retainer because of the complaints that their type 1 retainers were too thin and were breaking. Just thinking out loud here mostly but considering I just picked up a set of JUN 3s (OT but I think they once belonged to you 92TYPER) and was planning on the rest of the JUN head package, pehaps I will go with a Toda spring/ Portflow retainer combo now.....

One of the persons involved with the spring binding on the JUN 3 cam was on this board a couple years ago, but the name escapes me. SgT knew the guy and I think was his tuner as well. Its very possible that the JUN 3's you have were on my parts shelf at one point, I let them go a few months back to help pay some bills. I was going to use the Rocket Motorsports valvetrain with the 3's.

JUN springs did bind, it was well noted by SGT. Go with the Toda springs for no worrys, but also upgrade the timing belt too, stock one has a good chance of taking a crap on you.

Sorry for somewhat hijacking the thread but thanks for all the information that was posted. I'll be going with Toda springs and some titanium nitride coated Portflow retainers. Plan on the Toda belt as well but just replaced the water pump and put a brand new OEM belt on about 800 miles ago so I'll run that a while before I replace the belt again.
