You wil be more than fine. You can go 85mm if you want. @85mm it can get a little nerve racking b/c the tops of the cylinder walls are prone to cracking with very high compresion.

what are you revving it to?
i've been told not to turn it past 8500 in the interest of not cracking sleeves... apparently the harmonics can lead to cracking.
i hate being poor, if i had the money i would have re-sleeved it.

it's fine to rev to 8500, but anything past that a block gaurd or sleeve posting would be a must, but damian has no fear and rev's it like a motorcycle.

vtecdamian,

Just curious, did you build you own motor?.. and also, who tuned your motor for you, or did you tune the motor youself?

Hows the revving?

any 1/4 E.T. times yet?

reason, im asking is because my b20 block was being bored and found it had a hair crack, I had it resleeved. with a block guard, motor is around the corner just about done.

yea he built his own motor, and he's building mine, but he's running hondata s200, and Secret Services of Tampa FL that's closed down tuned his car. it revs like a motorcycle and he's gotten a 12.8@104 i think with slipping clutch, and slicks that aren't sticking to the rims. also in 90+ degree high humidity weather in south florida

We have both the block guard and the block girdle in stock for your application.

The block girdle adds some extra support to the center 3 mains which are seperate in the B20, LS and B16. The GSR has a factory main girdle. Our Main girdle replicates the factory girdle but can be used on the B20, B16 and LS ( B18A, B18B ) We have a full kit to convert you over that includes the oil pickup, longer main bolts, baffle pan and oil pan.

The block guard will aid against sleeve walking that can cause premature headgasket failure. They do not add a whole bunch of strength to the block, but they can certainly help.

If you need anything for your set-up, feel free to give us a call anytime

I'm using a B20B block bored to 85 mm. on stock sleeves. I have 7000 miles on the engine with no problem. I'm at 11.8:1 and rev to 8k.

Hell thanks for clearing that up somewhat, from what I read on the old b20vtec.com B20 sleeves were trash and cracked alot. But my set up is a B20Z block bored out to 84.5mm hot tanked, honed, Zyglowed block, magnafluxed crank, balanced crank, all new OEM bearings etc. So I'm assuming it will be fine running JE 12:5:1 c/r pistons, eagle rods, engine isn't back yet from the builder but should be back soon, but my transmission and other vital parts are tied up in legal BS work through this shop I had the engine built through and the shop is going under so needless to say I'm pissed I'll put up pics one day when it gets back, I go to court on September 13th to try and get my trans and stuff back, and hopefully $6000.
