Default Accord Shifting Problems?

I just recently bought a 94 Accord and its an automatic tranny. I dont know if its just me, but when the car shifts gears it seems kinda jumpy instead of real smooth? Is this normal or is there anything I can do to make it shift easier?

try checkin the fluid levels and see if the fluid is also good. if its a real dark color and it smells like complete ***, change it. if its clear red and doesnt smell like *** and you have enough in there, ur good to go with fluid. quite possibly your tranny is just goin out and shifting for the 10 year old tranny is just gettin harder for it. happened to my old car

I also have a 94' Accord EX with the Slushomatic tranny. Mine shifts really-hard. The problem that the honda Tech told me was that the previouse owner has never changed the tranny-fluid and that it has gotten used to having a "heavy" load of fluid inside of the gears. The only problem with changing the fluid on a higher-mileage Honda if its never been done, or has only been done once or twice, is that the tranny likes to slip and it makes an irritating "whinning" noise. My wife and I test-drove a 95' Accord that was the same thing we have now, and he had the tranny fluid changed @ 120k miles, and the "whinning" noise that came from it sounded almost like a geardrive on a V8 engine! Very noisy, very annoying! But, to answer your question, yes, it is normal for the slushomatics in the Accords to shift very rough. I haven't drvien on yet that shifts smooth, no matter how many miles were on it. Hope this helps!

I own a transmission shop so I am familiar with what you are taking about. First you can try servicing the transmission with genuine honda atf this could be your problem. Also Check the Throttle Valve Cable that attatches from the transmission to the trottle body, this controls your line pressure int the trans, if it is maxing out to early it will give you hard shifts.
