Default H22a Euro R ??

Well my car is going to be setup for track use and I want the motor to be reliable, but I would like to know is the Euro R worth the money? I mean it has good pistons, valvetrain, pnp, single butterfly runner, and on top of that it has LSD (what type of LSD is it?). But is it worth it for such a high price? Its gonna be NA and I want to put down some decent numbers, but with this motor and just replacing gaskets here and there, and adding a header, clutch, and flywheel will it be a good overall motor. Or should I just get a normal H22a and build that with high compression pistons etc...? Any info would be great, especially if you have the motor .

it's helical and yes it is worth it. The tranny has the best gear ratios for N/A.

i dont think its worth it. what are they 4k+? you can find a usdm for 1500 if you look. take the other 2500 and build it. you will end up w/a lot more power and a good knowlegde of your engine.

I believe the Euro R is totally worth the money. It is just like comparing a gsr to a type r swap. If you really look at all the differences you will see that you are getting alot more for your money. The main advantage the Euro R has is the super rare tranny. You can't get a shorter geared h series tranny unless you put in an aftermarket final drive. But everyone has their own opinions on things and values things differently.

All I gotta say is that you couldn't have a more reliable setup than a STOCK honda motor.

yeah if you're going for reliability, i'd go with the euro r motor. You could make the argument that it wouldn't be as fast as a build h22 but that built h22 is going to break things and be more unreliable than the stock euro r. I'd go with the r if i had the money and i wanted an all motor h22.

I've been driving hard on my euro R for 15K and have'nt had a single issue(knock on wood). I've considered the alternatives and if it were'nt for the tranny, I'd probably have went with a regular H22. Soo basically, if you just buying the motor, get a regular H22, but if you getting a complete swap, then yes, it is worth the extra money for the euro R as long as its in good shape.

Ive seen the Euro-Rs for around 2500-2600 or so on ebay and then put shipping ontop of that, so overall around 3000ish(no tranny) maybe 4kish or what other people were saying with tranny, i dont really know. Obviously for that same price you could have a much more powerful H22 setup for the same price. If you research the parts you install and understand how they work I think it would be possible to build an engine more powerful than the F20B and just as reliable as a stock honda motor. Given that you understand what you are changing and its side-effects wont affect the reliability of the motor.

I'm fairly aware of what to modify on a H22, but seems like most of you prefer the Euro R. Well hopefully I can put this together soon thanks for all the help.
