Connecting power steering hoses
I have removed my power steering belt. I am now thinking of removing the pump (with the hope that not having to push fluid through the pump will reduce steering effort a little). Rather than removing all the hoses, I was hoping to connect the high pressure metal line from the pump to the low pressure rubber return hose. I will thus have a closed system with a reservoir.
Can anybody recommend a good way of forming a secure connection between these hoses? I do not know the diameter of the hoses - the metal one seems to be about 1cm in diameter and the rubber hose is about 2cm.
TIA.

Not interested in doing this - the ratios are not as good. I am looking for specific recomendations for connecting these hoses.
You could try to find another P/S line with the same fitting and try to mate the fittings together with nuts and bolts, use some do it yourself gasket material in between the 2 mating ends... cut the metal line leaving a few inches to slide the lower hose over and clamp it down.. problem is the lower hose diameter is greater than the upper hose..
remove all lines and leave the low and high pressure fitting on the rack, get long screws that fit the two line ends and sealant. you only need to keep fluid in the steering rack.
Thanks for the suggestions. What sort of gasket material are you talking about?
