autozone axles - part #'s?
Well somehow I have two bent axles on my itr powered hatch.....
I'm fine with the autozone rotors and like the lifetime warranty on the axles... is the p/n the same for all 94+ abs equipped integra's?
If not, what's the difference?

Ditto, they suck Ken. IMO, pick up either some OEM ($$$) or Raxles. Don't waste your time on the Autozones.
Jason-
who loves the rotors, but the axles just plain suck.

Ditto, I've heard this too - they suck. OEM or Raxles is the info I've heard many times (although I have no driect experience).
My mechanic reccomends something else also. I can get the name Monday if you want. However, his experience is on other Honda's, not on the R.
:edit: How did you bend them anyway?

FYI Pepboys/Autozone axles are rebuilt OEM axles.

Who gave you this info? The grease used in the rebuild process is not equivalent to the OEM/Raxles grease. If it was, I wouldn't have fried 2 of the Autozone axles in one track weekend.

H-T gave me this info. Stock axles are fine even for high HP applications. If you are breaking axles alot then you need to look at your setup and see what is causing it besides the axles, maybe launch technique, weight of the car, slick size, etc.

Explain. OEM axles and autozone axles have the same weaknesses b/c they are the same thing. OEM just isnt remanufactured, they are "brand new". I'm happy with either axles unless i'm doing over 400whp then i'd want to get some big beefy axles.

Blykins is saying that when most people go to buy a set of autozone axles, they turn in a core. Lots of times these cores are broken OEM Axles.
These Axles then get remanufactured, so in turn, they are remanufactured OEM Axles. Are they OEM quality? No. You get what you pay for.

I understand that, as quite honestly that's what I did when I tried them. However, I was later informed by both Honda and Raxles that the grease they pack the joints with can handle much greater temperatures than the Autozones. This explained my dilemma perfectly. Like I said, just relaying a personal experience of mine.
That, and I just didn't want Kenny to have the same problem. Then again, they might work okay for street use. I've seen the way he drives though

Autozone/Advance/etc axles are probably remanned OEM... just like the brake parts, which is why there's a big *** core charge.
They suck because they are not re-assembled well at all and will come apart in very short order on track.

Neither will OEM. That sucks your having bad luck w/ OEM. Good thing the raxles are working better for you. BTW, how much are raxles?

If you buy a *new* OEM axle (not haphazzardly assembled autozone reman) you wont have any issues either.
Raxles are significantly cheaper than new OEM pieces - I think wholesale price is around $350 each.

OEM > Reman OEM. Not the same thing at all. Look at what breaks - it's not the splines. You have to account for variations in driving also. Just because you have not broken a reman OEM yet does not mean it does not suck. All the labor that goes into changing them counts too. I'd reather spend a little more, than spend another day tearing down again, plus flush a track day (or a tow home) down the toilet on a failed rebuild.
been running a NAPA axel in my R for > 30K miles - no problems at all (and it only cost like $80 or something...)
might be a viable, and cheaper alternative to a new stock axel...

Lifetime warranty too. If it breaks, just take it back for a replacement for free.

If its costing you track time, or worse a race that is not a very good option to have.

I, too, recommend against Autozone axles. I have replaced my drivers side twice in the last 2 months, and it's ready to be replaced again. IMO, they are junk. I'll probably buy one at Bumper to Bumper (passenger side axle came from there and has held up great), and exchange the Autozone for an emergency backup.

I dont race so thats not a concern with me. Even if I was racing I dont think I could justify paying $700 for a set of axles. A local shop races at Road Atlanta all the time and their running stock axles and haven't had them break.

If you have sponsorship or contingency on the line, its a small price to pay to ensure reliability.
