We just got the largest Cometic Headgasket available by cometic (they just released it!). It's supposed to drop your compression on your GSR by about 2 POINTS!

Cometic 0.120" Head Gasket. This thing is super thick! Perfect for your Turbo application.







I also picked up some ARP Head Studs and a Race Engineering Block Guard.






The guy's at Cometic shipped us this Prototype Head Gasket and told us they've been running this Head Gasket and block guards on their Turbo GSR with stock block at 14lbs all day everyday without no problems.

Should put the compression lower than an Integra LS and still retain Vtec.


A couple more things, then the GSR should be boosted.

That is a expensive gasket and it might cause you timing belt issues...and btw,lots of guys have ran stock headgasket GSRs @14psi with no problems,its all in the tune

I personally think it's voerkill.. it drops it to 8.2:1. I'd be happy with 9:1

It's not. It's a special order and we can get get them for $199.99. Takes about a week or so.

It puts the Compression Ratio down to like a DSM. I wouldn't have to worry about blowing a head gasket with this bad boy.

Anyone have any idea how much timing advance there should be corrected with this gasket? I was thinking 1 degree on both ends would be fine

 

A gasket that thick will definitely throw the timing off, I know of people running the .90 that have had to do cam gear adjustments after the install.

This is still the cheapest way of lowing the compression and making great power so I support the idea.

BTW, that .120" gasket has been around for a long time. I've seen it for as little as $100

What's the disadvantages to running a headgasket that thick ????? The part number on that HG is CM-H1345120S

It drops the compression on a GSR from 10:1 to 8.2:1

 

hey earl I forgot to ask, would that be 1 degree timing advance or retard on both gears for every .012" thicker then stock?

 

IMO, thats Too thick... if the cars tuned right, no need for all that

Yup....thats why alot of teh thick headgakset setups that you see making good power for stock blocks are on race gas
