Default R32 vs. ITR

No, I don't mean the Skyline GT-R. How about the new 2004 VW Golf R32? It has both AWD and a strong engine. It could be trouble.

R32 is garbage I have a buddie who just got one and the thing is a tank. Too heavy for racing, too much weight to it.

It's definately a force to be reconed with! All the magazines weren't impressed due to it's price tag of 30 large. Face it, the Evo and STI blow it out of the water.

It could use a little more power but it's definately a step in the right direction for Vee Dub.

top of the line golf.. but what does it have in common with itr?? can we establish that itr is one of a kind.. you can't chase after every new car out there, there will always be something better and faster.

A' f*ckinmen!

Seen it, still don't like it or VW's in general. Saw one roll most of the competition in it's class at an autocross, but still wasn't blown away by it's looks and performance.

The various Sti's that day and one in particular owned the field.

Done.

Opie, are you still trippin' on meds?

In the original post, I should have specified a compare and contrast discussion.

I don't think this is an inappropriate post.

I have heard that some R32s in this area have been doing some serious triple-digit runs across 66 and the like, beating much more expensive cars. If I had money to burn on a new car, I'd consider it...and that's saying a lot, because I hate VWs with a passion.

I don't think it's a factory option, but I think Motortrend ran an article about a TT R32 package provided by a Canadian tuner (name escapes me at the moment).

Again though, I don't even own an R, but from what I've heard .... ah hell it ain't even worth gettin into. They're too different to compare. 2004 AWD 6 vs. late 90's design FWD 4.

Get an STi or Evo8 if you want an AWD vehicle!!
Anything from VW is garbage, trust my own brother dont event want to drive his 2-yr old GTI anymore. In fact he stole my EG hatch for joyride all the time!!

R32:
1/4 mile - 14.3
Weight - 3,400lbs

Oh wow. A heavy, unreliable $30,000 car thats barely faster than a stock ITR.
pfff..

I cant imagine driving a car that weighs 900lbs more than an ITR. Thats like having 6 people stuffed in your car.

I'm looking forward to seeing my Chef run his at the strip sometime within the next month or so. He financed the extra $ as well to have it "chipped" with whatever the hell they did to it...
