Default looking for new car

well, i'm finally fed up with the prelude and am selling it to get a civic hatchback. i wanted to know which one's to look for based on future potential. i mean, i want something that i'll be able to easily squeeze some decent performance out of down the road.

depends on plans and amount of work u want to do the 88 is the lightest by far and the std is the lightest they made the only problem is the injection it has a carborator style injection on it but it can be made faster than a si easily mine is just put a si head on it and it gets tons more power than stock or u can swap in a b series motor lots of options

i've got now problem dropping an si head on it, i just don't want to do anything i'd need to pull the engine for, or go into the block for. the only thing about going '88, is finding something that still has miles left in it, and something that won't nickel and dime me to death.

What kind of Prelude do you have? How about a nice 88 crx hf, with a swap

97 honda prelude sh, stock, dark green. sorry man, but a really want a civic . i'm hoping to get at least 10,000 for it, pay off most of my car loan with it, then use like 4k to get a car and at least do the suspension on it. right now it looks like my best bet will be a 92-95 civic si hatchback - opinions?

if you're concerned about mileage, get a 92-95

if you want power, you have to do a swap. now you can all argue with me day and night, but get real. NOTHING will beat dropping in an extra 50-70 horsepower. you can do a multipoint fuel injection conversion on a dual point injection motor (si head on d15) but still, it will be nothing like a full swap. you won't be getting mad power out of that conversion.

a 92-95 hatchback will be good. if you can spend $2000 after the purchase, pick up a type r suspension with wheels. you'll be happy with that for awhile. it'll upgrade your brakes, suspension, wheels, and tires. if that's too much, spend about half that. get some groundcontrol/skunk2 coilovers, powerslot rotors, brake pads, stiff shocks (not tokico blues) and maybe some bushings. if you can spend a little more, look into a rear sway bar, a good front strut bar, and you should be pretty happy.
there are some light 92-95's, real close to the low model crx/hatch weights of 88-91.

would 92-95 civics accept the type-r suspension without too much modification?

the type r doesnt have forks at the bottom im not sure how they adapt it for the other cars i know they bolt into my car with ease i think the control arm must be modified a little to fit the lower shock mount in there
