how do I know what kind of ECU I'm getting? and can I get it reprogrammed?

how do I know what kind of ECU I'm getting? and can I get it reprogrammed?
I'm about to buy a use Type S ECU. I was wondering how would I know what kind it is. like if it's a base, type s, or Type R. plus when I picking it up can I just take it to the acura dealer and just have it reprogrammed for my car?

ask the seller what the code is. I forgot the type s ecu code but i'm sure someone knows.. i think it's p03 (unsure though)
