Fitting a coupe exhaust onto a hatch???
My friend wants the exhaust on my coupe for a hatch, but he doesn't have the hatch yet. I'm trying to find out which parts of the exhaust need to be shortened/cut to make it fit onto a hatch. I'm pretty sure the rear section needs to be modified, but does the rest of the piping? Of the 3 sections of an aftermarket exhaust (b-pipe w/ resonator, the bended pipe, and rear section w/ muffler), which one(s) need cutting (shortening) to make it fit a hatch?? Anyone done this? If he had the hatch already, we could just do a test fit and see, but he doesn't, so any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
i think your just going to have to shorten the b-pipe, i have a stock muffler that i fitted froma coupe onto my hatch, adn it sorta all bolted on, cept that the tip was way too long and i had to cut that, so who knows, youll just have to fit it first, or wait to someone who has done it posts about it, sorry if i wasnt that much of a help to ya.
I have a catback from a DC integra. The muffler is what is longer, I had to cut and reweld about 4-5" off it. I still hate it though, the big tip doesnt fit under the bumber-it sticks out a lil bit. Also the pipe where the resonator is at kinda site weird. On hard turns i can here it hit the underside f the car right where the last (furthest towards rear of car) 90 bend is at- doesnt really sit up where stock would. I also dont know if the cat is longer on the Integras or not.
BTW I have Apex Dunk catback....
Oh yeah, I also hit the rear (front-whatever) of the muffler with a ball pean hammer so it would clear my ITR rear sway. Otherwise it would rub.

i fitted my greddy sp exhaust from a coupe that i wrecked to a hatch. i wasn't too hard. i had to cut the tip off. i elected not to have it rewelded, i like the way it looks without it, kinda sleeper looking. the peice that bolts to the cat fit just like it did on the coupe. no problem. the part the neede to be cut was the piece that makes an "s". i brought it to a muffler shop, they cut a piece out and the piece that had the flange on it was opened up some to fit over the other piece. so when i went to fit it on the car it was adjustable. then i clamped it down, and had it welded. the part that was the hardest and what i still get some noise from is the axle back piece. i got new insulators to lower the muffler some so it wouldn't hit the body of the car. and i rigged up some screw clamps to keep it away from the gas tank, which mine hit. none of the mounting brackets for the insulators would work on the muffler piece. i am happy with the result and really happy i didn't have to pay another $500 for an exhaust.
