h23 vtec
What?? that really confused me. if its the JDM H23... why is its block number and F...
And isn't the H23 Vtec that went in the accord wagon just a US engine that happened to be an H23 Vtec that they threw in there? Dont know for sure, just sorat assumed that it... since that accord wagon was sold in the US.

when people say "jdm" h23 its not really an H its an f22b. the accord wagon is an sir not just a regular usdm model:
H23A VTEC
Accord Sir Wagon (CH9) (JDM)
200ps/163tq
notes: 10.6:1 CR, open deck likely regular JDM H22a head. 95mm stroke
Auto Tranny stock

The only way the H23 VTEC will pass smog in CA is if your car came equpped with an H23 block from the factory and you install a VTEC head...
Or...
You swap a complete H23 motor into your car... The motor has to be the year of your car or newer and must be installed with all stock sensors and OBD- smog equipment... You must then get the complete H23 swap B.A.R. certified... Once the H23 is certified as a legal swap, you can then replace the H23 head with the H22...
Smog ref's are usually not so smart when it comes to head swaps... They are getting smarter though, though know to look for "VTEC" on the valve covers now... My advice would be to machine the "VTEC" off of the valve cover...
The only thing that they are really picky about is that the motor is a US motor, the year of your car or newer... Some insist on factory, unmodified non aftermarket mounts and nothing out of place...
Getting a H swap certified in anything other than a Prelude/Accord chassis isnt going to be easy, to my knowledge it has yet to be done...
