How many in R's 97?
It should be 750 or around there at least.
I don't know if I am answering right or even the right question because of the other 2 reply's above.

There is no good answer to how many USDM Integra Type-R's there might be. Honda has issued very little information about this and the info we do have seems to be incorrect or lacking supplementary information. We can all speculate as to the numbers for each year. We will round up and give you a best guess at the maximum number of each year there is likely to be.
1997 - 750
1998 - 1100
2000 - 1600
2001 - 1600
These numbers are based on badge numbers viewed by us here. If you have a badge number on a United States Type-R that exceeds these numbers please email us so we can modify our numbers

In the ITRCA registry there are 1997 R's that go beyond the number 318 what about them and what about this thread
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=674404
Most people think that the number made was 500 but it looks like there are more so probably more like 750.
It is a possibility we're wrong but also a possibility that the person who sent that letter could have made a mistake.
Eh, I dunno I see you commented on that post. Who knows how many but it would be nice if there were more so more of us could own one but then again if there were a lot it wouldn't make it as rare.

Hey, yeah it might very well be 318 and the higher numbered ones could've been shipped to the U.S.
My bad, I really can't argue with you guys cuz you guys have been here for a long time and really know your stuff.

Yes, exactly. You can see from the "accounting" topic in the link that there is a huge jump from 378 to 507 with no reports of ITRs in between.

Neither do I, but I can make a few guesses.
It looks like most of the '97 ITRs sold in Canada were in the 400's, which sounds like they used the same sequence and sent some to Canada and others to the States. There are a couple of exceptions (including one that matches a US market ITR) but those could be errors.
It's also possible that some numbers weren't included in sales figures because cars were provided to race teams, or were scrapped during crash testing, or were totalled in transit, etc.

I think the best way to settle this is to say it doesn't really matter how many or what number you have. We still know that it is a rare car and that if you are lucky enough to own any ITR you are THE MAN.

Please re-read what nsxtasy wrote. In 1997 #1 through 318 weren't sent to the United States all in order. You are forgetting that the US wasn't the only country to get the Type-R.
If nsxtasy's data is correct we do know there are/was 318 USDM Integra Type-R's.

Ok ok I feel really stupid but yeah, now I understand what you all ment. I learned something new and wow 318, that is damn rare. It was just weird how they were sent out. Don't hate me, I was wrong and I admit it. Sorry, my bad. Please forgive my stupidity.

No, actually read above. These guys really know their stuff and have all told us that there were 318 sent to the U.S. I'm pretty sure they were made in Japan, 750 weren't sent to the U.S. only 318 like they said above. So I've learned something new, sorry for stating wrong info. thanks for correcting me and giving us the right number.

This is what I base it on. I don't understand why they skip numbers, but they seem to. Anyhow, the letter seems to be pretty official so I'm sticking with 318.
This has been covered time and time again, but it's always fun to argue about.

Yes, all ITRs were made in Japan. That's why the VIN always starts with "J".
