Default Help: Vtec wire

I have 1 question. Im swapping a D16z6 into my 90 Std hatch. And I would like to know if I need to cut out the harness that connects to the Vtec solenoid from the 92-95 ex harness and leave some wires to run Vtec. TIA

If not, I was going to sell the 92-95 harness.

you dont need the 92-95 harness at all. depending on what ecu you use, you need to run youre vtec wire, or solenoid or whatever.

If you are OBD0 or ODB1 you will still need the plug for the VTEC solenoid.
If you are OBD1 you will also need the VTEC oil pressure sensor plug.

Cut those out of the engine harness and run them to the ECU however way you wish.

I guess if you really don't care, you could just cut off the plug on the VTEC solenoid and solder the wire from the ECU directly to the solenoid wires. It will work, but you are stuck with having to cut it later on if you ever need to remove the VTEC solenoid or have to get the wires out of the way for whatever reason.

Oh - and if you are going OBD-1 (with OBD1 components) you will want the plugs for the distributor as well as the injector plugs.

Check your instant messages - I have a question for you.
