Default best way to get through firewall? where?

I am running some wires through my firewall for some neon lighting and other things. Anyway, in my old '94 GSR, there was a hole down to the right of the battery where my power wire went through. For some reason that same hole on my "new" '94 GSR is blocked by something. I remove the rubber grommet, but if I try and poke through the hole with like a screwdriver, it hits. Do I need to drill still? If so, what a pain in the ***, because it's in such a spot that I wouldn't easily be able to get a drill down there. Also, I can't see where it comes into the cabin, so I couldn't drill from the inside. Any suggestions? The picture on the top is the hole I am speaking of that I want to get through. The picture on the bottom is the hole I am currently using to get wires into the car, but there are a lot of wires running through it already, and I don't want them to rub against the metal. Thanks

Go to the other side of the car where the battery is. Pull the battery and there should be a big gromet on the other side of the ecu harness hole. If this is the one that is giving you trouble pull your battery and your fuel filter for a little more room to work with, and drill a new hole and make sure that you drill low enough that it is easily accesable from the inside.

I used the side where the battery is. As stated by ApexOne, there's a rubber grommet there that will go right through.

i know, you can see the picture of the rubber grommet in the top picture, but when i remove it, it does not go right in to the cabin. i think i would need to drill a hole, but there is not enough room to do so

your old GSR probably didn't have the thick sound deadening mat on the interior side of the firewall.

Try sticking a wire clothes hanger through there first. If you work it around enough, you should be able to get it through and inside the car. Then use a bunch of tape to wrap around the cable and the hanger, and pull it through the rest of the way.
