Advice: Buying 2000 GSR or Civic SI
I will be picking either one next week. Price for GSR coupe is 53K asking $14559 versus Civic SI at 44K and $13500. I alredy placed a deposit for both vehicles and would like your opinions, pros and cons.
GSR .... WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better total package. More HP, better interior (IMO) and options, motor has a lot more potential, GSR is faster/torquier, do Si have 4 disc brakes ? I know the GSR does.

your fugly........the civic si is just as goergous as the gs-r..............
tell us what color both cars are and that will make the decision a little easier
blades vs. si rims............that's the reall struggle (they are both so georgous)

Thanks for the reply guys. Both cars are in the same year, 2000. SI is black and gsr is white. I will not be modifying these cars for the track, only as a daily driver. The only mods i would consider are suspension and h/i/e, everything else i will keep it stock.

talk him down to get the gsr at $14000.
In 2000, the gsr would have been picked hands down if it could be had for just $500 more than a civic si.
Also the 2000 gsr will keep a higher resale value if you should ever choose to resell it privately.
2000 civic si:
1.6L DOHC motor
weight: 2,513lbs
Hp: 160hp@7600
Torque: 111lbs@7000 rpm
2000 integra gsr:
1.8L dohc motor
Weight: 2,667lbs
Hp:170@7600 rpm
Torque: 128lbs@6200 rpm
in daily driving, that difference in torque will be noticable.....you won't have to rev as high going from stop light to stop light to accelerate with some quickness.
Hope this helps; good luck
I know you're going to pick the gsr

the gs-r is a better overall package. better styling, more engine potential, better daily driver cuz of the extra torque at lower rpms, plus, its a fastback.
nothing beats that.

i'm going to have to respectfully disagree. i see 99 Si's that are still selling for $17k (the original price they were selling for in 99). these cars do not lose their value! i'd have to imagine because there are a lot more 2 fast 2 furious ricers out there who are inlove with the civic's looks than there are hardcore import tuners who'd rather modify a GSR. there is more demand for the Si than there is for the GSR, i think.
but i'd never buy an Si. i'm a GSR guy all the way, and i drive a civic!

I would buy the GSR...I have to agree with DCcliffjumper2 that in the end it will be a higher re-sell value
plus with the GSR you get the full black leather interior which probably contributes to the higher re-sell value
If the SI was considerably less like $10k vs $14.5.....then I would get the SI but for just a $1000 price difference I would def go with the GSR
So far on mine i have i/h/e and I love it, about to get the Skunk2 mani and then later throw on itr/ctr cams
good luck

get the gsr actually having more then 100ft lbs of torque at the wheels is nice compared to the si who doesnt plus the gsr has abs so its safer and i like the si but i like the looks better on the gsr
Go for the GSR because it is white. Although it can look nice, black is a pain to keep clean. I like to drive my car, not wash it. The GSR is a better overall package too. Both are out of warranty. I won't comment on torque, as neither car has much.

I know where you're coming from, it is kinda close cause of demand v. availability, though only a dumbass would pay $17K for a stock 99-2000 civic si. KBB 2004 excellent condition retail values for the two cars:
2000 Integra gsr 2dr: $13,450, plus you can ad $325 to it if it has manual transmission (might want to talk your car dealer down a bit further
)
2000 Civic Si: $13,250

damnnnn...prices are a little steep arnt they? i see them from like 9-12 for both of them with like 50k miles around there... but most definately the gsr...but then again the si looks hella sweet too but ill have to say GSR>si.........the gsr is greater then or equal to the si in my book
Damn, Why would you spend all that cold hard cash for a stock Honda, When you could purchase my Mint and highly modded Milano Red '99 Supercharged Ls Integra.
Only 42,3xx miles on her as we speak.
She's my Daily driver with a lil pep.
Asking $13,500 obo
If I were in your shoes, I'd go with the GS-R only because of the HP and the color.
Black is to hard to take care of.
The Civic is a great car, My wife drives a Electron Blue Si.....But I'd pick the Teg over the Si in a heart beat.
Good luck with your decision

There really isn't any argument here, at least there shouldn't be.
Are you hesitant because of what each car costs? Obviously the GSR is a better car. Acura is Honda's luxury line. It's a much better car. Faster, more refined, and it "should" look better according to what it costs compared to the Civic.

Performance wise there is no replacement for displacement! GSR is my vote. Did you know you the GSR comes in a 4-door as well? I have one so I felt the need to say that.
My question would be does the GSR have leather?
Does the Civic Si have that nice little armrest in the middle?
Look at the arrangement of the center console where everything is placed?
Look at were the cup holders are?
Does the Si come with a upper strut bar?
The overal design of the GSR is much better than a Si. The Si is just a Civic with some power. The GSR is an Acura what more can you say.
Although the wise thing would be, since you are deciding between those two vehicles, specifically, then you need to have both taken in for a check up and see what potential problems might arise. Be as brave as to have the valve cover opened and see if the engine was well taken care of. You know the typical used car buyers guide stuff. That is going to be the ultimate deciding facture. Although given both "whips" are in equal mechanical condition I would go with the GSR.

Ok I made up my mind. Went to the dealer today, threw some cold cash in his face and walked out with the GSR. Final price was $13100, plus i got free next month oil change, $20 gas for the trip home, plus free Honda T-Shirt (big deal). To sum it up, i am definately happy with the purchase, as well as how the car handle.
I will be ordering Tein S. Tech springs couple with KYB AGX tonight, any thoughts???
