Question about suspension
I have a squeeky shock/strut (not sure which one it is). I was wondering if I bought a coilover kit would I still have to buy new shocks/struts? What is a good brand to go with. I'm on a limited budget so I'm not looking to spending a grand on them. $400-500 is my spending range. Also I'm looking to stop better because my brakes are mushy at times. I had the brake pads replaced with oem and I'm still using oem rotors. I have a dx so I don't need to buy for the rear. Any help would be great. Thanks
You don't have to buy new dampers(struts/shocks...whatever
) with a sleeve coilover kit but the high spring rates of sleeve coilovers will eventually blow the stock units. Upgrading to an aftermarket unit is recommended but not neccesary. For a sleeve coilover kit I would go with ground control. Also look into omnipower full coilovers. They are only $649 from jhpusa.com and are a full coilover which is nice. From what I have read they are a very good kit.
For the brakes I have had good luck with brembo blank rotors and hawk hps pads on the street. Also try bleeding your brakes or buying ss brake lines to improve pedal feel. A mushy pedal means air in the lines or the rubber lines are expanding.
