Hi guys,
I had a question about reusing the stock DX speedo and gear. Can the gear be taken out of the DX tranny and inserted into my B cable tranny? I thought that it would lift right out, but I read that those are pressed on.
When I was doing my swap I tried to remove the gear holder from the DX tranny and it wouldn't come out. I took out a retaining pin, and the holder came out, but the gear dropped into the tranny. Not a big deal really, I can always get a new speedo gear at teh dealership. But I was jut wondering about reinstalling the speedo gear.
When I reinstall the DX speedo gear into my YS1 tranny, can I just put it in the holder, put the retaining pin in place and drop it into the speedo hole on the tranny? Does the speedo gear have to be pressed into place or something like that?
Thanks

I see...for my setup, I'm using the stock DX cluster, and I still have the stock DX speedo wire dangling in my engine bay. After my 1000 mile break-in I may install a GSR or Civic Si cluster and an electronic speedo. But I want to get a stoc speedo now, and hook up my speedo and see if that helps clear up some of my bugs (my VTEC is not X-ing over).

I doubt that has anything to do with it. I am runing the stock DX cluster and the stock speed-o cable, and it wont' reach the entrance to the transmission.

I just installed my speedo gear a few days ago and it reached just fine. I dont know how my setup differs from yours though. I did have to route the speedo line through the heater hoses so that there were no unnessecary kinks or bends.
-B18C w/ 91 YS1 tranny
-HCP mounts
