Need help modding an H22 to 250 whp
Basically the subject says it all. I want to know what kind of modding would need to be done to achieve 250 whp in an H22. All motor or forced induction, doesn't matter. So all you H22 heads give me some possible setups. I'm very interested in knowing what I will need to do to achieve my goal especially since I'm on a budget and I don't want to spend anymore than I have to. Thanks.

75 shot NX wet single fogger kit
2 step colder plugs
255lph fuel pump
ignition box to retard timing only while spraying
this is all assuming you are stock right now. do a compression test, leakdown test and if your numbers are good then you are good to go.

Good luck
Good luck
250whp on a prelude? you need some serious money for that. especially if you plan to race it. you would also have to build up your tranny also. like BioXide02 said, GOOD LUCK with the budget thing

Really? tell that to Anthony, XES, Spoolinlude and all the other 450+WHP guys that are running on the STOCK TRANNY!
your first post was retarded and uninformative. correct that or keep quiet.

I agree with Shakes on this one, NOS is the cheap and easy way to go. If you want to get crazy, do some block work and up the shot to like a 120 or somethin.
Only other way would be turbo, and thats gonna cost you. The other other way, is all motor baby, and for that, you need to sign over your first born child, especially in a lude. 250 na in a civic is a different story.

maybe im missing something but isnt it easier to reach a higher HP rating in an H22 than a B16 or B18? i mean, the stock numbers are alot higher, so why would it be more expensive?

Nitrous is the cheapest horsepower.
This year with the prelude running 590whp we had to use a quaife diff in the transmission, however we ran at 510whp last year with a completely stock transmission. Oh yea we broke our first axle while racing in vegas. Preludes are built tough.
You don't have to be rich to get to 250 hp and everything should hold together fine. Just make sure your getting enough fuel. We have some 72# injectors we might sell. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. Very helpful. Keep the setups coming if there are any more out there with ideas.
Did I forget to mention the H22 would be going in a 2200 lb civic hatch?
I figured you prelude people would be more knowledgeable though. Hehe.

well the thing is 250whp for NA is very very expensive. 5 grand won't get you there. I don't even know if anyone NA has hit 250 whp. If u want 250whp just slap on some n0z

Is 'whp' hp at the wheels? Because if it is...
assuming a stock h22a will dyno about 160hp and a wet 75 shot will dyno around 45hp, thats still way shy of 250 isn't it?
You can't just re-jet the nos to like 150hp w/o building the motor so I'd say the nos idea isn't gonna be cheap. Still probably the cheapest though.

NX rates it at the wheels not at the flywheel like the other companies. so in all actuality a 75 shot of NX is about the same as a 100 shot of ZEX.
with just intake, exhaust, clutch, flywheel and fuel system i dynoed at 173whp so i dont see why a 75 shot wouldnt put him quite close to 250.

You can hit 250whp easily with a decent turbo kit.
You are looking around the $3,000 range if you have someone install it. As far as your tranny goes, stock is fine. If you have an extra 1000ish to blow, you can always upgrade to the quaife LSD.

I figured a 75 shot would dyno more around 60 HP at the wheels...... ?
And 250 at the wheels is easy to hit on a stock motor.
Turbo or nitrous, choose your poison.......

Wow I didn't know the H22a's were that ineffecient in getting the power to the ground. I was thinking they would dyno around 175-180 or so stock. That's a new one on me! Good info, nonetheless.

Well, most cars lose about 15% at the wheels, so that's about 170HP. Then you gotta factor in that they all have miles on them, some are more worn out than others, that they may be out of tune after a mod, and that different dynos create different numbers, it is actually about right. They are not horribly inefficient, in comparison to other cars.
