Apexi gt 1995 rs
I've got a Tanabe SMR and it is fairly loud but it won't kill you. I got ticketed for it in Cali though. Got it cleared for a mere $10. The decibles at 4,500RPM was 102 and the backpressure jolted it up to 110db.
I don't know about the Apex'i GT but the N1 is pretty loud, louder than mine I believe. Of course it depends what combination of other parts you use for your exhaust. I am running with DC 4-2-1 headers with a stock cat and the Tanabe catback. I plan on changing the cat, but the piping is 2.25in all the way around.
You can always go custom and buy the muffler of your choice to get the look you want at the end. Or you can find something bought as a whole. Try HKS, R&D, Skunk2 and Greddy to start with. Those all have a good selection and the Greddy and Skunk2 are fairly quiet but popular.

yes i heard that many people got ticket for loud exhaust..and that exhaust is loud too..also skunk2 ..exhaust that looks like apexi N1 or tanabe SRM they are loud type exhaust...quite exhausts are Apexi WS ,tanabe hyper, ................
Well seeing as how the GT IS the N1 (never knew that!) then it will be loud period. There is a good chance you will be stopped too sometime during usage of an exhaust like that. I got pulled over with my Tanabe SMR and I was cruising on the freeway at 65mph.
Cops probably won't hear it, and in fact that is probably the least of your worries if you get pulled over. The situation is more so the fact that you have a modified exhaust. You can clearly see one of those big cans from far away, it doesn't take a trained eye to know it ain't stock. They will tailgate you to see how loud it is and more likely than not pull you over regardless.
If you are worried about cops don't get one of these big straight through mufflers. Visually it will get you into trouble like I explained. Furthermore they are destined to be loud to some degree. Plus it will depend whether you run a cat and resonator. If you get a catback from a factory such as Apex'i then it will come with the resonator built in as part of the piping. Still loud though.
I think in your case going with a custom exhaust would be benificial for the reason that you can choose your pipe size and decide whether or not you want to use emissions equipment such as a catalytic converter and whether or not you want to use a resonator. With the added bonus of being able to use just about any muffler you want. Go on eBay and see if they have a style you like then check out kteller's site to see how much the custom mandrel bend piping would cost you.
Since you have an ls/vtec engine I recommend doing the custom setup as you can pick and choose exactly what you want but if you are looking for a brandname then be sure to research. There is an article on team-integra.net about exhausts and it has a whole list as well as sound bites for many exhausts.

im meant get an resonator, if it comes to it meant be alittle loud and a straight pipe i dont really care about the cops worst thing happen put the stock one back on and get a long resonator and whatever else...
Tanabe systems are loud. With DC headers and my stock cat it rates at 102dB at 4,500RPM. Backpressure when you let off the gas at the same RPM is 110dB roughly. That is loud, but I've heard worse. With a test pipe and/or no resonator it will be significantly louder. But if you get the catback expect it to be pretty loud.
The Tanabe catback has a nice sound too. starts out deep until about 4,000RPM then it sounds more that of an engine revving high than a loud muffler sound. You know, back when people didn't have loud exhausts and all the noise was from the engine hehe.
I personally enjoy my SMR, the UMR is probably just as good if not better. I think it is what I wanted originally except they didn't make it for my car. Get the titanium one, it's like $900 lol.
