Ok, I have CRX with a B16 in it. It has i/h/e, and I have it running in open loop.
Ocassionally, when I am going down the highway, after a long period of cruising at the same speed something will suddely kick or something. It studders, and stumbles.... I have to give it alot more gas to go the same speed, and it has this some-what of a gargeling noise. It will do this for the rest of the driving trip.
Then again, ocassionally, if I turn it off for a short period of time... then try to start it again, it immediatly stalls. To start it I hold the accelorator all the way down, then crank it for a few seconds, repeat like 3 times. Wait. Then do it again and it will fire right up.
Does anyone know what this is? I guess the highway thing could be becasue I am running in open loop. But the O2 sensors are inactive at startup no matter what. So that is not the answer. I dont think that is the answer for the highway thing also.... because if it has a inacurate reading, then it just keeps my car in open loop, correct?
Note: OBD-0
Thanks in advance.

i can almost guarantee it's the ignitor unit.
check for CELs as a precaution nevertheless and replace the ignitor.

No CEL's. But where would I get an ignigter? I am not very familiar with distributor's.... but I guess its in there. Then I would just opt on going to obd1. Unless they are really cheap.
Would I order one for a Regular CRx Si?

yep, ignitor. or just loose connection. it wont ever give a check engine light, theres no sensor for it. open up the distributor, clean off the contacts on the top and see if that helps. if not, then replace the grey box thats on top of the distributor.
have had these same exact symptoms. theres no other guessing.

My car has been doing the same thing. I put in a new distributor from distributor king and it still does it, that is until i reset the ecu. Now it just seems to flood. Sorry to hijack the post, just throwing out some info.
