Have an 03 base, just test drove an 04 type. My impressions...
So i test drove the type s finally, it was my first time. I have a base and the type s is on a whole nother level.
First thing i noticed was the tranny. Obviously it 5spd vs 6, but what got me was the smoothness of the 6. My shift into 2nd on the 5spd has a notchyness to it. The 6spd shift to 2nd was smooth as silk. Pretty much the shift into every gear was much smoother. I also noticed the complaint that a lot of s owners have about 3rd not wanting to go into gear sometimes.
Second is obvioulsy the power. I definately felt the vtec kick in where as in my base you dont really feel it. The exhaust also had a nice growl to it. Mine doesnt, heh.
Lastly the ride was much better. This car needs the firmer suspension. Its just a more solid ride. I havnt put in my tein s techs and konis on yet though. Im sure once i do the ride of the s will not seem as exclusive. But stock for stock type s
On a closing note i also got a brochure for the 05. I had to argue with the guy to get it. He didnt beleive me when i told him there were some style changes. He also didnt beleive me when i told him about the 10 extra hp, or thicker sways. So i convinced him to go in the back and open the sealed box of brochures. Well i proved him wrong. My scanner doesnt work otherwise i would post a pic of the inside. There was already a topic on the brochure for the 05's, where someone had scanned in the pics. The said they didnt notice any interior changes. Well i did. The seats are different. In the 05 the headrest portion of the seat is about twice as thick, offering much more head support and what seems to be a much cushior and pleasant place to put to your head.
Anyways just thought i'd let everyone know my little adventure.
