Default what color does stock '94 GSR gauges (speedo/tach) glow?

I bought my "new" '94 GSR last April and sold my old '94 GSR last may. Anyway, the GSR I bought had a JDM gauge cluster to go along with the front end conversion and a few other misc. JDM parts. I didn't really like the orangish glow (the numbers) of the gauge cluster, and I remembered the gauges in my old teg w/ the USDM gauge cluster to have a nice bluish glow (the numbers). So I went on ebay and bought me a USDM gauge cluster, but when I hooked it all up, the speedo/tach had a white glow, not blue like I remembered. Is this just me? What color do the speedo/tach glow on your 94-97 USDM OEM cluster? Pics would be great. Thanks
Tim
PS - Looking in the backside of the cluster it appears that there is some kind of colored film behind the gauges that gives it that particular color glow. I was wondering if it is possible to remove and/or replace it with a different color. I don't really like Indiglo gauges that much, and I'm not too keen on any of the reverse glow gauges either.

i have tons of various colored LEDs, but how are you going to put them where the bulbs were? they aren't the same size and def not the same voltage. the circuit board on the back of the gauge cluster causes the bulbs to light up, but an LED is only 3-3.6 volts (depending on color), and how would they turn on?

If you really want that bluish glow from your gauges, you can just go to autozone and buy some blue bulbs in 194 and replace the three in the back of the guages. That's what everyone else does, but I say keep the jdm gauges.

the main reason for getting the USDM cluster is because i wanted the bluish glow (so i thought) to match the blue glow of my autometer cobalt series boost and oil pressure gauges (see glow below)

correction and end to a common misconception, blue bulbs do not glow blue, they glow a bright white. The blue rubber covers for the lights do not glow blue either, once again, white..... blue LED's will glow blue, but then you have a whoooole other project on your hands

that would be great if it was as easy as changing the bulbs. LED's would be crazy to try and integrate into the circuit "board" and supply the correct voltage.

well, i just purchased about 4 different color and style 194 bulbs and LEDs off of cardomain.com. only like $12 for 3 different style bulbs and one LED. this way I can see which looks best, etc. now I just hope the color shows up behind the white "lens" behind the numbers

Just took blue bulbs outta my cluster, and they glow blue. I suggest Red, for the ease on the eyes and brightness.

Make sure to post pics no matter what you go with.

you could use your own LEDs (cheap), but too much hassle. i found nice LEDs on CarDomain.com that are 194 style so they fit right in the old socket. sweet
