not kill it but restrict the full potential.

i have no idea but the larger the collector on the header is,and the smaller the oem cat is,the more of a bottle neck it will create..

A carsound cat is about 100 bucks. Why not just save up and get it done right the first time. Might aswell get the full potential out of the setup. Or you could get more out of it and just get a straight pipe.

I say keeping the stock cat just doesn't make sense if your modifying your car. It'll definately harness some of your power. How much? Im not sure.

i had a carsound hi-flow cat then I took it off and put the stock one on to pass smog and I noticed a big difference esp in the upper rpms.

hi flow cats cost a little more than a test pipe and dont pollute and dont sound like ****..hi flow is the way to go

Test pipe is loud as hell. My friend has a custom built exhaust, all pipe no resonator or cat and it is damn loud. He told me that supposedly turbo makes the exhaust quieter for some reason and if that is true it must drone when you are cruising on the freeway.

I have headers and a Tanabe catback and it is pretty loud but I am running a stock cat. I should have changed it in the first place but I didn't. It is easy enough to get to though so if you don't do it the first time around it is no biggie but you could save yourself or your mechanic the hassle. I will probably go back and do that soon enough.

what kind of exhaust did your friend have on the turbo. that may help explain why it was so loud. b/c i have a test pip with my thermal 3" and it is hella loud. but say you get a quieter exhaust like the apexi ws and thorw on a testpipe, how loud would something like that be.

im am also running this setup. header, oem cat, cat back exhaust. dont u need some back pressure and not just a straight pipe? dont u lose power with absolutely no back pressure?

ok cause i have a high flow cat that i had on my car for 20 miles with my old crappy ebay no name brand muffler and it sounded like crap. i took it off, but now i have a apexi n1 catback and was thinking of putting it back on. i noticed when i had it on that my acceleration was slower.

He has custom piping and his muffler I forget. It has the 3 inch pipe running through it for the outlet but it uses that tin can style to dampen the sound rather than a glass pack to absorb. I would show you if I had the link. But basically the muffler just goes right through and it has the perforated holes inside. He has no cat or anything though so that could be entirely why.
